Ivor Beddoes

Biography:

Ivor William Gilmour Beddoes (28 April 1909 – 14 March 1981) was a British matte painter, sketch and storyboard artist, costume and set designer, painter, dancer, composer and poet. He is best known for his film work, spanning more than thirty years, from Black Narcissus and The Red Shoes to Star Wars and Superman.
“I worked with Ivor Beddoes on Superman II. He was mostly known as a storyboard artist but did glass paintings from time to time. Ivor had been trained as a dancer and was a master of the ‘trick fall’. At film premieres and such events he delighted in apparently crashing full length to the floor and getting up laughing when shocked bystanders rushed to to help him.” Martin Body
